A Stylish Love Af-flare

These jeans! Normally I like to warm you up with some small talk, a little Schur house-of-crazy update, but tonight I just want to talk about these jeans! They are "shaping" jeans from H & M, and I feel like they do wonders (you can tell me if I'm delusional) for creating a long leg and for holding  me in in the right places. Now if they just had a built-in bootie, then I'd really be in business! 

Now onto the small talk: We've been home from Hawaii for a whopping 48 hours, and my mind and my body are still on island time; i.e., not wanting to be in the rat race and wanting to sit around watching the ocean all day. As my husband likes to remind me, once you have kids, vacation is not really, well, vacation; it's more like combining travel and some fun and a lot of work and little sleep. Luckily my parents were with us and helped out a lot with the kids, so it did actually feel like vacation a lot of the time. One of these days I'm going to vacation in a hotel room with a nice cozy bed, serious blackout shades, and no children. It's gonna happen--I'm going to get that elusive full night of sleep. Just you watch. 

Ok kids, it's late and I'm trying to be on good behavior, so I'm out for now. I hope you're all enjoying the first week of spring and enjoying restful nights of sleep. You ingrates.

70s Vibin'

I'm so thrilled to be back in action (aka back in normal clothes). I love the challenge of styling maternity outfits, but I'll be the first to admit it's much easier to have an entire wardrobe of non-maternity clothes at my disposal. Not that I can really wear all of my clothes; some don't fit just yet and I have to wear nursing-accessible tops or dresses. So really I can't wear much of anything, to be honest. All in good time.

Most of you have likely seen or heard somewhere in the social media sphere (or even first-hand from moi) that little Parker was born on August 5th. It was a tough labor, much, much tougher than my labor with Sylvie. I'll spare you the birth story and the gory details; suffice it to say that none of it matters except that I have a darling little boy whom we all adore. Sylvie is beyond smitten with him, and she's adapted to the change much more easily than I anticipated. I'm still waiting for the ball to drop, but in the meantime, I'm soaking up Sylvie's love for Parker, and the fact that he pretty much sleeps through the night and has since he was born. For those of you that know my sleep history with Sylvie, you know that Aaron and I DESERVE a good sleeper. I have no idea if it'll continue, but I'm pretty well rested for being the mother of a newborn. Hallelujah!

Maternity Fierce

So as you can see, I'm doing my damndest to stay fierce while pregnant. I'd say I nail it about 5% of the time. Mostly, I just want to wear my joggers and my Stan Smiths and not put any makeup. I'd probably stay in bed all day, too, if I could somehow manage it. This pregnancy has been a lot more difficult than my first, primarily the physical discomforts. A lot of days it's hard for me to walk normally, and I don't know how I can possibly be this, well, PREGNANT at 5 1/2 months! What am I going to be like at 7 or 8 months? Eek!

Anyhow, this particular day Nahal and I ventured out to do a photo shoot with the stunningly stylish Raina Washington of The Embellished Closet. I kind of don't want to send you to her site, because it gives me major blog envy every time I look at it. How can someone be that photogenic? If I didn't love her, I'd probably hate her. Consider yourself lucky, Raina!
