For the Love of Layers

You know when it's freezing outside and you can't wait to go indoors, then when you walk inside it's so warm that you start taking off all your clothes?...No?...Just me? Alright, well if you live in San Francisco, you can appreciate the benefits of layering, especially with a versatile and stylish sweater like this one.

I don't know about you guys, but when I'm sitting at my desk (usually sneezing up a storm from my unrelenting battle with perennial allergies), I like to feel as comfortable as possible. This cozy cardigan brings the comfort and is so soft and warm that it will make you feel like you're wearing a blanket all day. Who needs a Snuggie when you have this sweater?

This shift dress is short sleeved and perfect to transition the look from day to night and offers relief when you finally make it into a heated room.

Side note on the cardigan: it's linked below and over 70% off right now, so hop to it!

On The Edge

It's 10:40 on a Friday night as I'm writing this, which, for a parent, has all kinds of implications. To cut to the chase, basically I'm blogging right now to retain my sanity. I didn't get both kids to sleep until 10, which means that I'd spent a significant portion of my evening trying desperately to get them to go to bed. I decided I was going to sit and write instead of mope myself to sleep right away! I don't really miss being out on a Friday night, but I do wish I could at least put my feet up and have a little "me" time. Hardee har har. #parenting.

Fast forward to Sunday night, and I've actually had a pretty great weekend. I got to hang with some mom friends and our kids, which always leaves me feeling good (serotonin boost). I also got to go on a date with my husband, which included eating Middle Eastern food and seeing a comedy show. #iwaswhiningovernothing

Onto this outfit: I have basically been living in these H&M pants since I ordered them online. The sweater and shoes are old, but I've linked similar styles below (and these exact shoes in burgundy). Here's a link to the bracelets, which are $5 and I wear them all the time! They fit so well and they go with everything! The dress I scored off of Urban Outfitters on Black Friday, but it's sold out now. I'm not convinced it's terribly flattering, but I love it anyway.

I hope you all had a nice weekend! Blog to you soon!

Winter, Owl Be Alright

Oh, January. You just kind of suck. You are the hangover of the holidays. You are cold, wet, and gray. It's back to work in January. Back to the daily grind of meetings and deadlines. At least that's what the January Haters say. But you know what? To me, January is just fine. January is a fresh start, a time to slow down and reflect, and a time to bundle up in my new winter coat. Doesn't sound too shabby!

In the spirit of appreciating the colder months, enter this look. I always feel guilty complaining when it's "cold" in San Francisco, especially to my East Coast friends. True, we've been having unusually cold days here in the Bay Area, but I'm seriously loving the cold and rainy days. For the first time a while, it's been cold enough to break out my gloves and hats on a daily basis.

This particular day was no exception to the SF cold, and I had recently found this gem of a coat at Zara. The fur collar is removable, but...just...why? First off, its the definition of cozy, and second, just look at how lush and glamorous it is!

I've linked similar coats below, but you're in luck because it is now 50% off on the Zara website! Yes, please.

Shaken, Not Stirred

Happy January! I hope you are all surving this gloomy weather and the obnoxious colds that come along with it. We have been passing the cold around (sniff, sniff, give...sniff, sniff, give), but I think we're finally coming through on the other side. Here's to hoping we (and you!) are all healthy for the upcoming 3-day weekend.

I titled this post as such not because I'm busy drinking martinis, but because I feel like this vest shakes things up a bit in regards to workwear. When I ordered it online, I wasn't sure how I would style it. If I had gone out on New Year's Eve, I would have actually worn it as a dress with some tights and heels. However, given that I was sporting jammies and a robe on NYE, I had to Plan B. I wasn't sure if this vest was in fact work-appropriate, but no one batted an eye when I wore it, so I guess that's a good sign! I'm sad to say it's now sold out online; it went quickly!

Normally I don't spend my whole posts talking about my outfit, but I do want to point out my two favorite accessories of late: this Winky Designs bag and this Jackie Jones necklace. I've told you guys about Winky before, but I'm telling you again because I love their goods, and they're all so reasonably priced! Jackie Jones is a friend of my mother-in-law's, and she designs these super cool necklaces (which unfortunately aren't sold online). This one is a hit-you-over-the-head statement piece, but we all know that's my favorite kind of jewelry.

I hope you're all doing well, and I'd love to hear your plans for the upcoming holiday weekend!
